Job summary

MANTECH seeks an Information Systems Security Engineer to join our onsite team in Crane, Indiana. You will lead RMF package development, perform security assessments, and coordinate with software and systems teams to maintain posture.

The role requires DoD-focused experience, a Security+ certification, and eligibility for a Secret-level clearance. This is an on-site position at Crane, IN with opportunities to advance in cybersecurity engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cybersecurity engineering, systems engineering, or network administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• CompTIA Security+ certification required.
• DoD 8570.01-M/DoD 8140 IAT Level III preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead RMF package development and submission in eMASS.
• Perform security control assessments and draft POA&M.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments using ACAS (Nessus) and SCAP.
• Apply DISA STIGs and resolve compliance gaps.
• Bridge development/ISSM teams to maintain security posture.
• Participate in engineering change boards to protect system posture.
• Analyze security logs and support incident response.
• Implement secure designs and boundary defenses (firewalls/IDS/IPS).
• Ensure integration of HBSS/ESS, ACAS, SIEM.

Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Information Systems Security Engineer to join our team working in Crane, IN. This is an onsite position.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Leads the development, update, and submission of the RMF packages inside government repositories (e.g., eMASS).
• Conducts security control assessments, draft Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and maintains system continuous monitoring strategies.
• Performs automated and manual vulnerability assessments using tools like ACAS (Nessus) and SCAP.
• Translates findings into action by applying Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and resolving compliance gaps.
• Serves as the primary bridge between the software development/systems engineering team and the Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
• Participates in engineering change boards to ensure modifications do not compromise system posture.
• Assists in analyzing security logs, detecting anomalies, and providing system-level technical support during incident response or forensic investigations.
• Applies system security engineering principles to implement secure designs, secure configurations, and boundary defenses (firewalls, IDS/IPS, access controls).
• Ensures standard security tools (e.g., HBSS/ESS, ACAS, SIEM) are properly integrated

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct experience in cybersecurity engineering, systems engineering, or network administration
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, System Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 6+ years of additional experience may substitute for the degree requirements
• Must possess a CompTIA Security+ certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• Active DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level III baseline certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+ CE, or CISA)
• Previous experience working in a DoD environment

Clearance Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required and an active or current Secret clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret prior to starting.

Physical Requirements

• The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
• Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
