Job summary

Bering Straits Native Corporation seeks an Information System Security Engineer to integrate cybersecurity into the design, development, and sustainment of government systems in Colorado Springs. The ideal candidate will lead RMF activities, craft security documentation, and collaborate with ISSMs, engineers, and program managers to embed security across the lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) responsible for integrating cybersecurity into design, development, implementation, and sustainment of information systems.
• Apply security engineering principles across the SDLC to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.
• Support RMF activities including system categorization, control selection, implementation, assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring.
• Develop and maintain cybersecurity artifacts such as SSPs, SARs, POA&Ms, and security architecture documents.
• Collaborate with ISSMs, System Administrators, Network Engineers, Program Managers, and Government reps to ensure security requirements are incorporated into designs.
• Conduct security analyses, vulnerability assessments, risk evaluations, and technical reviews.
• Review architectures, diagrams, and configurations to ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements.
• Evaluate and implement controls per NIST, DoD, IC, and organizational needs.
• Support system accreditation and authorization for classified and unclassified systems.
• Assist with secure network architectures, boundary protection, encryption, and access controls.
• Analyze vulnerabilities and mitigate risks to reduce operational risk.
• Support security testing, penetration testing coordination, and vulnerability scanning.
• Develop cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards, and implementation guidance.
• Participate in design reviews, configuration control boards, and technical working groups.
• Provide cybersecurity recommendations to management and leadership.
• Support incident response, continuous monitoring, and compliance initiatives.
