Information System Security Engineer I (ISSE I) with Security

Job Title: Information System Security Engineer I (ISSE I)

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

Hours: Regular Full-Time

Salary Range: $120k/yr – $175k/yr

Clearance Requirements: This position requires a current and active TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly at the time of application.

What you will be doing:

The contractor shall provide cyber security and security engineering services for the Fort Meade customer, including system security engineering, cybersecurity risk assessments, and security architecture support. The ISSE shall perform or review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities, non-compliance with cybersecurity standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. This includes:

  1. Participate as a security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  2. Support the Government in enforcing the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures.
  3. Apply knowledge of cybersecurity policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, and implement secure environments.
  4. Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management.
  5. Interact with the customer and project team members during meetings, presentations, and briefings.
  6. Design, develop, implement, and/or integrate cybersecurity systems and components, including those for networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  7. Assist architects and developers in identifying and implementing security functionalities to ensure compliance with security policies and enterprise solutions.
  8. Assess and mitigate system security threats and risks throughout the program lifecycle.
  9. Contribute to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, certification, and awareness activities.
  10. Apply system security engineering expertise in areas such as security design, lifecycle, cross-domain solutions, cryptography, identification, systems integration, risk management, intrusion detection, contingency planning, incident handling, configuration control, change management, auditing, and security testing.
  11. Support security authorization activities in compliance with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other customer processes.
Position Requirements:
  • Experience: Seven (7) years as an ISSE on programs of similar scope and complexity within the Federal government.
  • Education: BS degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Security, System Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related. Four additional years of ISSE experience can substitute for a degree.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Experience with NLCC, active cyber defense techniques, NIST SP 800-series, DoDAF 2.02, and a CISSP or CASP certification is required.
