Job summary

Elevate Technology Group is seeking an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to bridge cybersecurity requirements with complex mission systems. The role will lead RMF activities, prepare accreditation documents, and guide security controls across development and operations in intelligence-focused environments.

The ISSE will work with program leadership, engineers, and developers to ensure compliance with RMF, ICD-503, A&A, and security architectures while supporting large-scale Linux

Qualifications

  • Experience with IC/DoD cybersecurity programs and RMF.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain RMF/A&A documentation.
  • Experience with vulnerability management and continuous monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Nessus/NMAP/Trivy and ServiceNow or similar tools.
  • Strong Linux system engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of AWS, VMware, and networking concepts.
  • Security+ or CISSP certification in good standing.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Experience with automation tools (Puppet/Ansible).
  • Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) technologies familiarity.

  • Develop contingency and incident response plans.
  • Support continuous monitoring and vulnerability remediation.
  • Collaborate with developers and engineers to implement controls.
  • Review architectures for security compliance.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, audits, and remediation.
  • Provide guidance across the system lifecycle.
  • Support Linux-based enterprise environments and security ops.

Job description

Role: Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)

Location: Fairfax, VA or Greenwood Village, CO

Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph Required

Compensation: $150,000 - $220,000 Base Salary + 50% Additional Employer-Funded Compensation

Total Package Value: Up to $330,000

  • Employer-funded 401(k) contribution worth 25% of base salary

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Information S supporting a highly respected technology organization delivering advanced solutions across the US Intelligence Community and National Security sector.

As an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), you'll serve as the critical link between cybersecurity compliance requirements and technical implementation. Working alongside program leadership, engineers and development teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring complex mission systems meet stringent security and accreditation requirements while supporting ongoing operational and development activities.

This is a highly visible position offering exposure to large-scale Linux environments, cybersecurity engineering, Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and enterprise security architecture within some of the most security-conscious environments in government.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading and supporting ICD-503 Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities
  • Preparing and maintaining accreditation and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) documentation
  • Developing security plans, contingency plans, incident response plans and risk management documentation
  • Supporting continuous monitoring, vulnerability management and compliance initiatives
  • Working closely with developers, engineers and program stakeholders to implement security controls
  • Reviewing and assessing system architectures to ensure compliance with security requirements
  • Supporting vulnerability scanning, remediation and audit activities
  • Providing cybersecurity guidance throughout the system lifecycle
  • Supporting Linux-based enterprise environments and security operations
What We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD cybersecurity programs
  • Strong understanding of ICD-503 and Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes
  • Experience developing and maintaining RMF security documentation
  • Experience supporting vulnerability management and continuous monitoring programs
  • Experience with NESSUS, NMAP, Trivy, ServiceNow or similar security and compliance tools
  • Strong Linux systems administration or engineering experience
  • Experience evaluating security architectures and technical solutions
  • Security+ or CISSP certification
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Puppet, Ansible or other automation tools
  • AWS or cloud technologies
  • VMware environments
  • CCNA or equivalent networking experience
  • Git, GitLab or other source control platforms
  • Enterprise monitoring and logging platforms
  • Oracle, MySQL or other relational databases
  • Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) technologies

Applicants must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph.
