Job summary

Seneca Resources is seeking an Information Security/Privacy Analyst I to support the FDA in safeguarding vital data. This on-site Rockville, MD contract role analyzes security events with SIEM, firewall, IDS/IPS, and endpoint tools to detect threats and incidents.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in a SOC or recent graduates with certs, plus Windows/Linux/UNIX experience, Splunk or similar SIEM, and the ability to obtain Public Trust. Strong communication completes the profile.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in SOC or recent college graduate with industry certifications.
• Experience with Windows, Linux, or UNIX operating systems.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools such as Splunk.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of security protocols, network services (FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, DAP), and packet analysis tools.

Pay Rate: $27/hr. on W2

Position Description

Join a dynamic team as an Information Security/Privacy Analyst I, supporting the FDA in safeguarding critical information. This hybrid contract role involves analyzing and responding to security events using SIEM, Firewall, IDS, IPS, Endpoint Security, and Network Access Control systems. You will play a vital role in identifying threats, investigating incidents, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or security professionals to grow their skills within a mission-driven environment, supporting public health initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Monitoring and responding to security alerts from various security tools and systems
• Conducting log analysis and troubleshooting security incidents

Top Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience in security operations centers (SOC) or recent college graduate with industry certifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of security protocols, network services (FTP, HTTP, SSH, SMB, DAP), and packet analysis tools

Preferred certifications include: CSIS, CEH, GCIH, CISSP, GPEN, and others.

Additional skills in IDS log analysis, packet capture, and familiarity with security tools are a plus.

This role is on-site in Rockville, MD, with work shifts potentially aligning to second or third shift schedules.
