Job summary

Planters Bank is seeking an Information Security Officer to lead the bank’s information security program and ensure regulatory compliance. The ISO will serve as the primary advisor to the Chief Risk Officer on cybersecurity risk and work closely with IT, Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Compliance to maintain a risk-based security posture.

The role requires strong communication skills, experience with banking regulations, and knowledge of frameworks like NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and CRI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity, CS, or information systems.
• Five+ years of progressive information security or IT security experience.
• Knowledge of banking regulations and cybersecurity requirements.
• Experience developing and administering enterprise security programs.
• Familiarity with frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls, CRI).
• Experience with risk assessments, IAM, vulnerability management, incident response, BCDR, and vendor risk management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Certifications such as CISSP/CISM/CRISC/GIAC/Security+ or CEH are preferred.
• Experience in financial institutions or regulated industries is preferred.
• Knowledge of Azure, Microsoft 365 security, AD, and cloud security preferred.
• Experience with EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, and cyber operations preferred.
• Automation/orchestration familiarity preferred.
• Programming/scripting (Python, PowerShell, SQL, JS) preferred.
• Data analytics/BI/dashboard (Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
• Experience querying/analzying large datasets; security metrics reporting preferred.
• Credit and background checks satisfactory.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee the Bank’s Information Security Program.
• Ensure compliance with applicable banking regulations and internal policies.
• Advise the Chief Risk Officer on cybersecurity risk.
• Collaborate with IT, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, and other units to maintain a risk-based security program.
• Communicate security risks to stakeholders and drive security improvements.
• Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and vendor risk management.

Primary Job Description

The Information Security Officer (ISO) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Bank’s Information Security Program to protect customer information, banking systems, and technology assets. The ISO ensures compliance with applicable federal and state banking regulations, industry standards, and internal policies while serving as the primary advisor to the Chief Risk Officer on cybersecurity risk. This position works closely with Information Technology, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Compliance, and other business units to maintain an effective, risk-based security program that supports the Bank’s security objectives.

Location

The location for this position may be flexible based on where the applicant is located as well as office space availability within our Planters Bank system. This position may require some travel.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, Equipment Skills and Other Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in information security, cybersecurity, risk management, or IT security.
• Demonstrated knowledge of banking regulations and cybersecurity requirements.
• Experience developing and administering enterprise security programs.
• Strong understanding of:

• Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR), SIEM, vulnerability management, and cyber operations is preferred.
• Familiarity with automation and orchestration technologies is preferred.
• Programming or scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, SQL, JavaScript, or similar) is preferred.
• Data analytics, business intelligence, or dashboard development experience (Power BI, Tableau, Superset, or similar) is preferred.
• Experience querying and analyzing large datasets is preferred.
• Experience with security metrics, KPIs, and reporting is preferred.
• Satisfactory Credit and Background Checks.
