Job summary

Allied Consultants, Inc, an Austin-based firm, seeks an experienced Information Security Officer to lead enterprise security, risk management, governance, and compliance programs. You will shape policies and controls, ensuring protection of agency information assets and compliance with applicable laws and standards.

The role reports to executive leadership and collaborates with courts, business units, and technology teams to manage risk and align security with organizational objectives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security or IT.
• 4+ years developing or administering information security programs.
• 4+ years leading security initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• 4+ years conducting risk assessments, audits, and remediation.
• 5+ years experience with security frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls) and governance like TX regulations and SOC2.
• 3+ years experience with state government agencies (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee enterprise-wide security policies, standards, controls, risk assessments, and strategies.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of agency information assets.
• Serve as principal information security advisor and work with leadership to manage risk.
• Operate with minimal supervision with high initiative and judgment.

Responsibilities

Performs highly advanced (senior-level) information security work providing leadership and strategic direction for the agency's information security, risk management, governance, and compliance programs. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and overseeing enterprise-wide security policies, standards, controls, risk assessments, and security strategies; ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and industry standards; and protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of agency information assets. Serves as the agency's principal information security advisor and works collaboratively with agency leadership, courts, business units, and technology teams to manage risk and support organizational objectives. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making authority.
