Job summary

VTG is seeking an Information Engineer to design and implement data processing systems that meet customer needs while leading security initiatives. The role involves planning project implementations, monitoring networks for threats, and applying industry best practices to improve processes.

The candidate will supervise staff, conduct security assessments and penetration testing, and ensure encryption and firewall controls are in place. A BA/BS with a Secret clearance and 75%+ travel are required.

Overview

VTG is seeking a Information Engineer to support our customer.

What will you do?

• Under broad direction, designs and implements data processing systems which meet customer business needs, leads and participates in system design teams.
• Plans, schedules and coordinates project implementations and ensures that customer requirements are met.
• Assists others on technical or industry-related issues. Anticipates customer problems and recommends solutions.
• Applies business process improvement practices to reengineer methodologies/principles and business process modernization projects.
• Applies, as appropriate, activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques.
• Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
• Develops and applies organization-wide information models for use in designing and building integrated, shared software and database management systems.
• Constructs sound, logical business improvement opportunities consistent with corporate Information Management guiding principles, cost savings, and open system architecture objectives.
• Provides daily supervision and direction to staff.
• Plans, develops, and implements proven high-tech solutions to increase security and defend against hacking, malware and ransomware, insider threats, and other types of cybercrimes.
• Oversees monitoring of computer networks, identifies security issues, and anticipates security breaches.
• Executes the installation and maintenance of security programs, plans, and software, including firewalls and data encryption programs.
• Assures protection of the organization's data and infrastructure by enabling the appropriate security controls.
• Investigates and analyzes security breaches and cyber security incidents to determine the source of the issues, and assesses the damaged caused.
• Documents all parts of security incidents or breaches.
• Performs assessments and penetration tests to identify network and system vulnerabilities, troubleshoots security and network problems, determines the best way to avoid them, and responds to system or network security breaches. Oversees security technology and audit or intrusion systems.
• Develops and handles secure network solutions to protect against advanced persistent threats.
• Keeps abreast of industry security trends and developments, as well as applicable government regulations.

Do you have what it takes?

• Must have a BA/BS in a technical discipline with at least 5 years of experience.
• Must have and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Eligible for a Top Secret.
• Willing to travel 75% or more

VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $74,249-$163,825 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
