Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center is seeking an evening shift receptionist to greet visitors, manage passes, and coordinate patient/visitor needs within the CAMS building. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, basic computer literacy (Outlook/Word) and a patient, professional demeanor in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include enforcing visitation policies, directing staff and vendors, and supporting the interdisciplinary care team.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory in-service training as needed.

City/State: White Plains, New York Department: Administration Work Shift: Evening Work Days: WEEKENDS Scheduled Hours: 1 PM-9:30 PM Hours Per Pay Period: 75 Pay Rate/Range: $20.4737-$30.7105 For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.

Weekend Schedule: Friday,Saturday, Sunday 1:30p-9:30pm

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
  • Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
  • Greets and directs all user groups, including but not limited to patients, visitors, and vendors in a warm, friendly, professional manner.
  • Accesses accurate patient information using computer; review recorded comments.
  • Issues passes quickly and efficiently; enforces visitation policies.
  • Maintains positive work interactions with all staff.
  • Follows appropriate procedures with patients requesting copy of medical records.
  • Answers phone calls and works as a liaison with all hospital units/departments.
  • Follows proper procedures for vendor sign-in process.
  • Sorts and readdress patient mail as needed.
  • Assists and coordinates patient/visitor needs with others on the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Evaluates ongoing situations, keeps Security and Department Director and Manager informed of issues.
  • Coordinates volunteer help to support overall patient reception and flow throughout the CAMS building.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required- must be able to read and write English.
  • Proficient computer skills -including Microsoft Outlook, Word and aptitude for learning new software systems
  • Previous customer service experience interacting with diverse public preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Mandatory in-service training as needed.

Must practice patience, tact and caring nature at all cabinets. Frequently move boxes of visitor passes and other supplies and position self to store supplies in time. Must be able to remain in stationary position majority of Hospital. Must be able to move throughout the task. to work in fast-paced environment and multi-High energy level. AbilityMay be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital’s SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital’s Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
