Clearance Requirement: Candidates must hold a minimum Interim Secret clearance and be able to secure and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment. ZenPoint can cage higher-level clearances.

Work Location: Washington, DC

Work Schedule (Hybrid): Requires up to four (4) days onsite at the customer's facility and one (1) remote day; Schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the customer and may be adjusted without prior notice.

Position Overview: One of our Department of State contracts is seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Information Assurance Analyst. This position focuses on leading and executing system Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities in alignment with NIST 800-53 guidelines and the Risk Management Framework (RMF). The analyst will support the development and maintenance of key security documentation, coordinate audit and reporting activities, and contribute to the overall security posture of High Value Assets (HVAs) and Non-HVA systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams. This role supports the Department’s broader IT modernization initiatives and reflects a strong commitment to strengthening secure communication systems, requiring close collaboration with stakeholders to ensure compliance and operational continuity.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide cybersecurity program and project support, with a focus on system Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities
  • Assist in fulfilling FISMA and CISA data call requirements
  • Support the development and maintenance of System Security Plans (SSPs), Control Implementation Summaries (CPTs), and other cybersecurity documentation
  • Assist in the creation of System Impact Analyses (SIAs)
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to gather and submit audit documentation for OIG audits
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on system compliance posture to Authorizing Officials Designated Representatives (AODRs)
  • Contribute to improving and maintaining high cybersecurity scores for both High Value Assets (HVAs) and Non-HVA systems
  • Analyze and address issues that affect score components and weights for HVA and Non-HVA systems
  • Assist in tracking, managing, and resolving Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) for systems, networks, and applications
  • Serve as “embedded support” to customer divisions and Information System Owners (ISOs) during ATO preparation activities, as directed

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a United States Citizen and present proof of Citizenship, if selected
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting cybersecurity activities aligned with NIST 800-53 Assessment and Authorization (A&A) processes
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading system authorizations in a federal agency environment
  • Hands-on experience using web-based compliance tools for security documentation and tracking
  • Proven ability to analyze data from various tools and develop comprehensive status reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI dashboards
  • Strong understanding of control implementation for NIST 800-53 Rev. 4/5
  • Capable of preparing and delivering informal and formal presentations using Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to support team efforts

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CGRC, Security+, CISSP, CISA, or CASP+
  • Experience with NIST 800-37 RMF Steps 0–3
  • Understanding of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and privacy control requirements
  • Experience leading Authorization to Operate (ATO) efforts within a federal agency, especially in complex and evolving environments
  • Self-starter with the ability and initiative to quickly learn new tools and technologies
