Job summary

Excellus is seeking an Informatica Engineer Level II to provide enterprise-wide administration and production support for Informatica environments. You will operate, deploy, test, configure, monitor, and tune performance across multiple environments.

You will maintain Informatica knowledge, handle routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, generate capacity reports, and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure production readiness and smooth deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field (or four additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors).
• Three years related work experience with two years administering the specified toolset.
• Working knowledge of Informatica PowerCenter, PowerExchange and Change Data Capture.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, DB, Sybase and/or MsSQL).
• Basic troubleshooting skills and UNIX-based operating systems experience.
• Informatica coursework or certifications are desired.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and a good understanding of data warehouse concepts.
• Willingness for minimal travel.

Responsibilities

• Maintains intermediate knowledge of Informatica and related technologies.
• Provides operational support for Informatica environments through defined maintenance activities.
• Performs problem determination and resolution from monitoring systems and help desk tickets.
• Produces reports on Informatica performance and capacity metrics and suggests improvements.
• Supports internal and external projects with Informatica expertise.
• Cooperates with IPM Engineering to ensure production-ready designs.
• Coordinates deployment and operation of Informatica installations.
• Documents procedures, resolutions, and changes clearly and accurately.
• Introduces small process improvements and keeps documentation current.

Summary Description

The Informatica Engineer provides enterprise-wide administration and production support for the companys Informatica Technologies, Environments, Toolsets, and associated peripherals. Including but not limited to operating, deploying, testing, configuring, monitoring, and performance tuning for the Informatica environments.

Essential Resource Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Level II

• Maintains an intermediate level of knowledge on Informatica and related technologies appropriate to Excellus.
• Provides overall intermediate operations support for the Informatica environments through daily/weekly/monthly/annually defined maintenance activities.
• Provides intermediate problem determination and resolution on the Informatica environments from both monitoring systems and escalated help desk tickets.
• Provides and reviews recurring informational reports on Informatica performance and capacity metrics and makes recommendations to address tactical and strategic challenges.
• Provides intermediate Informatica support for internal and external projects.
• Works closely with IPM Engineering to ensure that project designs are adequate for production processing (jointly).
• Provides intermediate level of deployment functions for the Informatica environment.
• Works closely with vendors, consultants and other outside professionals regarding Informatica technologies.
• Provides technical assistance and guidance to less experienced engineers
• Coordinates deployment and operation of Informatica installations.
• Introduces small scale process improvement and documentation currency consistently to ensure accurate management of the overall computing and application environment.
• Leads smaller size internal projects as directed by Management.
• Works with all areas to determine the appropriate business need as it relates to interfacing internal/external Informatica requirements to our systems.
• Provides and reviews recurring informational reports on Informatica usage, performance, and capacity metrics.
• Acts as primary contact for the coordination and testing of Informatica environments.
• Provides clear and accurate documentation of procedures, problem resolutions and changes.

Minimum Resource Qualifications

Level II

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant field (or four additional years related work experience in lieu of bachelors)
• Three years related work experience- Two years of experience administering specified toolset
• Working knowledge of Informatica PowerCenter, PowerExchange and Change Data Capture
• Basic knowledge of Relational Databases. Oracle, DB, Sybase and/or MsSQL
• Basic troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of UNIX based operating systems and shell scripts- Basic Extract Transform and Load ( ETL ) development
• Informatica based course work and certifications are desired
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Good understanding of Data warehouse concepts
• Perform Informatica platform monitoring activities
• Informatica PowerCenter Administration, which includes: creation of accounts, backing up the repository, migration of mapping and workflow objects across multiple repositories/environments, applying patches and version upgrades, and performance diagnosis/improvement
• Works well with others and participates in meetings/events
• A demonstrated desire for continued growth and skill development
• May require minimal travel
