Job description

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is seeking a full time Infectious Diseases physician to join as faculty. We are looking for a highly motivated physician interested in working with an urban, ethnically diverse, underserved population in a dynamic and supportive academic setting. The hospital is easily accessible by public transportation and car from all areas of New York City, New Jersey and Long Island.

Join a well‑established and growing, respected Infectious Disease Division in one of the most diverse neighborhoods on the planet. Our ambulatory services are nationally recognized for excellence in primary HIV Care and include a growing prevention program with an emphasis on Sexual Health and HIV PEP and PrEP. Ambulatory services also include management of viral hepatitis, general infectious diseases, tuberculosis and a host of tropical infections. Our inpatient Consult Teams see a variety of patients from all departments. Elmhurst is a main site for the Icahn School of Medicine Infectious Disease Fellowship. You will participate in the education of Fellows, as well as residents and medical students. Great opportunities for academic growth!

As an attending physician in the Infectious Disease Division, responsibilities span clinical care, consultation and teaching, contributing to how infections are understood, prevented and taught.

  • Provide infectious disease consultation to all inpatient services, including active supervision and precepting of ID Fellows on the teaching service.

  • Deliver Primary HIV Care to a panel of patients in an ambulatory setting, with opportunities to precept ID Fellows and medical residents in a continuity clinic.

  • Offer infectious disease consultation for ambulatory patients, including supervision of trainees during some sessions.

  • Participate in medical education by teaching students, leading rounds, delivering lectures and guiding trainees in clinical reasoning and diagnostic problem solving.

  • Contribute to institutional activities such as referral review, committee participation, quality initiatives and collaboration with home care staff and public health agencies.

  • Fulfill on‑call responsibilities remotely, with ID Fellows serving as first point of contact. Weekend call coverage occurs during ID consult rotation and is conducted primarily from home.

Candidates must have a MD degree and be board certified or board eligible in Infectious Diseases with a valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number. Spanish speakers encouraged to apply. We offer a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medical at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications. We also offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package including CME. Compensation ranges from $242,000 to $270,000 FTE, annualized including on‑call coverage and faculty practice distributions throughout the academic year.
