Job description

The Division of Infectious Diseases at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non‑tenure‑eligible clinician‑educator at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.

Responsibilities include helping to advance the clinical, research, and teaching mission of the Infectious Diseases Division as part of Northwestern Medicine. The Medical Director will lead and oversee infection prevention programs at Northwestern Medicine, and work with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to prevent healthcare‑associated infections. A successful candidate will have experience in infection prevention and healthcare epidemiology. Clinical activities will include attending on the inpatient ID consult service and the ID outpatient clinic. A strong interest and/or experience in a relevant research area such as outcomes research, clinical epidemiology, bioinformatics, or health disparities is desirable.

Qualified candidates will hold a medical degree and be board certified in infectious diseases. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.

The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.

About the Opportunity
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to prevent hospital‑associated infections using best practices.
  • Work to reduce transmission of infectious agents using strategic surveillance, cutting‑edge laboratory technologies and by promoting optimal hand hygiene and disinfection practices.
  • Work with the hospital epidemiologist to keep leadership informed of potential infection‑related risks to patients, staff and visitors.
  • Provide education to clinicians, staff, trainees, & patients on infection prevention priorities.
  • Advance knowledge by contributing to scientific research in the fields of infection prevention and infectious diseases.
