Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI seeks a Board Certified Infectious Diseases physician to serve as Medical Director of Infectious Disease Research, leading a nationally respected division with a history of clinical excellence, education, and scientific innovation.

The Director will shape research strategy, oversee clinical trials and translational studies, mentor faculty and trainees, and develop grant portfolios across NIH/CDC/industry funding, supported by protected time and a fully funded

Qualifications

• Board certification in Infectious Diseases (ID).
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited ID fellowship.
• Proven academic productivity with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Experience leading or contributing to grant‑funded research projects.
• Demonstrated leadership in academic or research environments.
• Eligibility for Assistant or Associate Professor faculty appointment.

Responsibilities

• Shape and expand the division’s research strategy.
• Direct and oversee clinical trials and translational research.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations across departments and external institutions.
• Mentor and develop faculty, fellows, and research staff.
• Guide grant development and stewardship, including strategy, submission, and post‑award management.
• Integrate research with clinical and educational missions.
• Contribute to clinical care within the Infectious Diseases Division.
