Job summary

The Infection Preventionist RN at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs leads infection prevention efforts including surveillance, reporting, investigation and control of infections.

Ensures compliance with standards, educates staff and patients, and collaborates with teams to reduce risks and improve patient safety. Supports policies and provides guidance to maintain a safe - clean healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program approved by ACEN or CCNE.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in the United States.
• State licensure required; pathway for bridge programs noted in VA qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveillance, reporting, investigation and control of infections.
• Educate staff and patients on infection prevention practices.
• Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with Infection Control Committee and other services.
