Job summary

AdventHealth in Denver, CO is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead and continuously improve the IPC program, aligning with quality and safety goals. You will monitor compliance, perform surveillance, and collaborate with clinical teams to protect patients and staff.

The role requires nursing education, RN licensure, CIC preferred, 1+ bedside clinical practice, and experience in infection control; you will develop education, conduct audits, and contribute to antimicrobial stewardship and QA

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and improvement of the IPC program aligned with quality and safety goals.
  • Monitor compliance with IPC standards and conduct surveillance to detect trends, clusters, and outbreaks.
  • Evaluate surveillance systems and modify plans based on outcomes and benchmarking.
  • Conduct facility rounding, audits, and IPC assessments; provide actionable feedback.
  • Develop and deliver IPC education programs to improve staff competency.
  • Provide SME input for interdisciplinary teams and drive QA/risk mitigation via data analysis.
  • Perform risk assessments and contribute to performance improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance IPC outcomes.
  • Leverage technology for surveillance and timely regulatory reporting.
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship and disseminate QA results through education.
  • Advocate for evidence-based practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to cost-effectiveness analyses and business cases.

Job Description:
  • Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program, aligning initiatives with organizational quality and safety goals.
  • Monitors compliance with IPC standards and conducts surveillance using epidemiologic principles and statistical tools to detect disease trends, clusters, and outbreaks.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of infection surveillance systems and modifies plans based on outcome data and benchmarking.
  • Conducts facility rounding, audits, and IPC assessments, identifying gaps in cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, and providing actionable feedback.
  • Develops and delivers IPC education programs customized to the audience’s needs, improving staff competency and compliance.
  • Provides subject matter expertise for interdisciplinary teams, driving quality improvement and risk mitigation strategies through data analysis.
  • Performs detailed risk assessments, develops measurable action plans, and contributes to performance improvement activities.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and external partners including public health officials, healthcare coalitions, and vendors to enhance infection prevention outcomes.
  • Leverages technology for surveillance and reporting, ensuring data integrity and timely submission to applicable regulatory systems.
  • Collaborates with internal teams on antimicrobial stewardship programs. Participates in research and quality improvement initiatives, differentiating between QI and research, and disseminating results through education and consultation.
  • Advocates for evidence-based practices, maintaining adherence to ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Contributes to product evaluation and cost-effectiveness initiatives, supporting organizational goals through informed decision‑making and business case development. Other duties as assigned.
