Job description

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for activities to reduce the risk of infection transmission to patients, visitors, and employees. Key job functions include surveillance of significant infections, the management of critical data and information, guidance and consultation in infection control practice, and the development and provision of infection control education. Computer hardware, appropriate software utilization and critical thinking must be incorporated into daily job functions. The Infection Preventionist has the responsibility to coordinate designated components of the Infection Prevention and Control Program as assigned.

A successful Infection Preventionist will be able to Work as both an autonomous practitioner and a team member. Demonstrate basic knowledge and advances his/her infection control education, knowledge, and skills Keep current on best practices through evidence-based research, consensus, and guidelines. Set priorities, manage workload, and meet deadlines.

Communicate effectively and build partnerships with a wide variety of healthcare workers. Demonstrate competency.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
