Job summary

OU Health in Oklahoma City is seeking an Infection Prevention Specialist I who develops foundational skills in surveillance, data collection, and infection prevention practices. You will support routine monitoring for healthcare-associated infections, assist with outbreak investigations, and provide frontline guidance on isolation and PPE.

This role participates in education, risk assessments, policy reviews, and readiness for accreditation, including Joint Commission and Department of Health,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in clinical healthcare or health sciences required.
No experience required.
Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association required on hire.

Responsibilities

Conduct weekly unit rounding to assess infection prevention practices.
Perform ongoing infection control surveillance for outbreaks.
Collect and analyze infection prevention data and reports.
Review microbiology or virology reports to identify HAIs.
Report communicable diseases to public health authorities as required.
Provide basic infection prevention guidance to staff, patients, and families.
Support accreditation and regulatory readiness activities (Joint Commission, DOH).
