Mass General Brigham in Salem seeks an Infection Control professional to coordinate and plan infection control activities. CIC preferred; if not CIC at hire, must sit for CIC within 2 years. Responsibilities include surveillance, reporting, and education across the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Develop an annual surveillance plan based on populations served.

  • Conduct Environment of Care rounds and report findings.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Health Services on infection risk.

Summary
Job Summary

Responsible for the coordination and planning of Infection Control activities. Provides guidance and consultation in the development, planning, and coordination of infection control. Conducts relevant investigations and develops reports pertinent to clinical risk management issues.

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred upon hire; if not CIC at hire, must be prepared to sit for CIC within 2 years of hire.

Essential Functions
  • Report communicable diseases to local and state health departments and complete public health department forms as needed.
  • Utilize performance improvement methodology as a means of enacting change.
  • Develops an annual surveillance plan based on the population(s) served, services provided, and analysis of surveillance data.
  • Implement site NHSN and non-NHSN surveillance, remediation, and reporting of infections, including outbreak detection and response.
  • Provides formal and informal education programs to hospital personnel as necessary or when directed.
  • Implement at the site level system infection prevention and control goals, plans, policies, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, regulatory/legal requirements, and objectives of the organization.
  • Conduct regular Environment of Care rounds and report findings to appropriate local and system leadership.
  • Implement, in collaboration with MGB Occupational Health Services, policies and procedures to assess, mitigate, and respond to occupational infection risk.
Qualifications

Education Bachelor's Degree Health Sciences required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
