Job summary

Kentfield Hospital, a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital serving Marin County and San Francisco, seeks an Infection Preventionist to own the hospital's infection prevention program and collaborate with frontline teams and leadership. You will translate surveillance data into practical improvements protecting patients, staff, and visitors.

You will conduct CDC/NHSN surveillance, review data, and lead outbreak investigations while maintaining policies and driving performance improvements.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license.
• At least 1 year of acute care experience.
• Knowledge of infection surveillance, epidemiology, microbiology, infectious disease, aseptic technique, reporting, and outbreak response.
• BLS and ACLS certifications from an approved provider.

Responsibilities

• Lead infection prevention program and partner with hospital leadership.
• Perform CDC/NHSN-based surveillance and review clinical data.
• Investigate trends and outbreaks and complete required public health reporting.
• Maintain infection prevention policies and support performance improvement efforts.
• Serve on Infection Control Committee and communicate actionable recommendations.
• Provide infection prevention education and maintain competency records for staff.

You will have the opportunity to influence hospital-wide practice, partner directly with clinical and operational leaders, and shape a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.Position SummaryAs our Infection Preventionist, you will take ownership of Kentfield Hospital’s infection prevention and control program and serve as a trusted partner to frontline teams and hospital leadership. This highly visible role gives you the opportunity to translate your expertise into practical improvements that protect patients, employees, and visitors while strengthening quality and regulatory readiness.You will conduct CDC/NHSN-based surveillance, review clinical data, investigate trends and outbreaks , and complete required public health reporting. You will also maintain policies, advance performance improvement initiatives, serve on the Infection Control Committee, and share clear, actionable recommendations with hospital leadership.You will equip employees with practical infection prevention education and maintain required competency records. Employee health responsibilities include immunization review, TB testing, vaccination programs and reporting, bloodborne pathogen exposure support, and N95 fit testing.You will also coordinate students and contract staff placements and partner with clinical and operational leaders to build a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.Required Qualifications Current, active California Registered Nurse (RN) license At least 1 year of acute care experience Working knowledge of infection surveillance, epidemiology, microbiology, infectious disease, aseptic technique, communicable disease reporting, and outbreak response Current BLS and ACLS certifications from an approved providerPreferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 3 or more years of RN experience, with exposure to infection prevention, epidemiology, quality improvement, employee health, or related acute-care work 1 or more years of professional development experience Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC), or willingness to earn it within an agreed-upon timeframeSkills and Abilities Strong organizational, analytical, project management, problem-solving, and decision- making skills Knowledge of infection prevention regulations, accreditation standards, public health reporting, and evidence-based practices Ability to build effective partnerships, educate diverse audiences, and turn surveillance data into meaningful improvement Clear written and verbal communication skills and confidence using job-related software
