Job summary

Kingsway Community in the Capital District is seeking a Full Time Infection Preventionist. The RN will lead surveillance, identify infections, and chair the Infection Prevention and Control Team to protect residents and staff.

You will develop policies, monitor compliance, conduct outbreak investigations, and provide staff education. This role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current New York RN license.
• Perform surveillance to identify infections in residents and staff.
• Track infection trends and report to agencies as required.
• Identify infection control issues and recommend corrective actions.

• Develop and revise infection prevention policies and manuals.
• Conduct outbreak investigations and initiate control measures.
• Provide orientation and education on infection prevention to staff.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and report data.
• Direct planning for infection prevention.
• Maintain professional development and membership in related organizations.
• Report to Infection Prevention and Control Team and all departments.

Kingsway Community is seeking a Full Time Infection Preventionist.

Requirements

• Must hold a current license as a registered nurse (RN), in the state of New York
• Perform surveillance to identify individual infections in residents and staff and to identify clusters of infection in a timely manner.
• Track trends in infection within the facility and report specific infections/clusters to appropriate agencies, as required by state and local regulations.
• Identify infection control issues (e.g. those identified during environmental rounds) and make recommendations for corrective action.
• Prepare the agenda for and chair the Infection Prevention and Control Team.
• Monitor infection prevention and control practices and employee compliance.
• Develop and revise infection prevention and control policies and procedures and maintain the infection prevention and control manual for all departments.
• Conduct outbreak investigation and initiate control measures.
• Provide orientation and continuing education related to infection prevention and control for all staff.
• Provide infection prevention and control consultation to all departments.
• Actively participate in quality improvement programs; reports Infection Prevention data to the Quality Improvement Committee.
• Direct short- and long-range planning activities for infection prevention and control.
• Engage in educational programs for professional development.
• Maintain membership in professional organizations for current information and new developments in infection prevention and control.
• Report to the Infection Prevention and Control Team and to all departments in the facility, in recognition of the fact that an effective infection prevention and control program necessitates the cooperation of the entire staff.
• When possible, provides other duties as requested.
