Job summary

Aria Nursing & Rehab is seeking an Infection Preventionist to lead the facility’s infection prevention and control program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting resident safety and quality of care.

The role monitors infections, conducts surveillance, investigates outbreaks, educates staff, and collaborates with clinical teams to sustain best practices, including CDC guidelines and emergency planning.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience working in infection control preferred.
• Active state RN/LPN licensure required.
• Certification in infection prevention preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the facility’s infection prevention and control program.
• Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and analyze data for QAPI reporting.
• Investigate outbreaks and initiate control measures for residents and staff.
• Ensure timely reporting of communicable diseases to public health authorities.
• Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, environmental services, dietary and therapy to ensure IPC practices.
• Monitor hand hygiene, PPE use, cleaning/disinfection, and isolation practices through audits.
• Deliver ongoing infection control education and competency training for all staff.
• Assist with education for residents, visitors, and vendors.
• Oversee employee health screening and vaccination programs.
• Serve as chair or co-chair of the IPC Committee.
• Oversee Antibiotic Stewardship program and collaboration with providers.
• Participate in QA and Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Maintain knowledge of CDC/CMS guidance and state regulations.
• Contribute to emergency preparedness planning for outbreaks.
