Job summary

Encompass Health in Cookeville, TN is hosting an Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator hiring event. Meet a hiring manager for an interview opportunity; walk-ins are welcome during event hours.

The role directs infection control programs, ensures CMS/TJC/CDC/OSHA compliance, analyzes infection data, trains staff, coordinates rotations, and supports audits and CQI training initiatives. An health-field education background and CPR are required; CIC is preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR certification required.
• Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
• Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
• Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
• Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
• Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
• 1 year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
• If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
• Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the managerial functions of our Infection Control Program.
• Assure compliance with CMS, TJC, CDC, OSHA, and other federal and state standards and guidelines.
• Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
• Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
• Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
• Assists in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.
• Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.
• Assists with projects and audits.
• Assists with staff training in QI certification and other required training.
• Coordinates preceptor program.
