Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, IL is seeking an Infection Control Preventionist with strong hospital-based experience. You will handle surveillance, prevention and control of infections and act as a resource for education of staff, physicians, patients, volunteers and visitors.

The role requires inpatient interaction, knowledge of CDC definitions for HAIs, and the ability to present information effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a life science field is preferred.
• RN license by the state where the facility is located if applicable.
• Minimum of two years in a health care setting; infection control/employee health preferred.
• Formal APIC courses in Infection Control desirable.
• CIC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients, volunteers and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices.
• Coordinate all hospital infection control activities with the Infection Control Committee, Medical Staff and hospital employees.
• Respond to potential exposures by communicating with patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Graduate from an accredited school with a Bachelor’s degree in medicine, nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, public health or other life science related field, preferred.

2. If a registered nurse, must be licensed by the State where the facility is located.

3. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a health care setting required. One year or more of experience in infection control and/or employee health is preferred.

4. Successful completion of formal APIC courses in Infection Control desirable.

5. Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $58,240 to $81,307.20 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
