First Atlantic Healthcare in Waterville, ME seeks an Infection Control & Prevention Nurse to lead facility-wide infection prevention efforts and educate care teams on best practices. You will develop procedures, monitor HAIs, and ensure compliance with regulations while promoting resident and employee safety.

The role emphasizes leadership, data-driven decision making, and staff education as part of a collaborative care approach. Eligible candidates may hold CIC or pursue it on hire.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant clinical experience for non-nurse applicants; RNs with broad experience are preferred.
• Current professional nursing license in the State of Maine; CIC can be obtained upon hire.
• Strong written and oral communication, time management, and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of nursing practice and theory; proficient with data tracking and reporting.
• Ability to read regulations, interpret procedures, and write clear reports.

Responsabilités

• Infection Prevention Oversight: Manage facility-wide activities to prevent HAIs, ensuring strict adherence to isolation procedures and limiting the spread of infectious organisms.
• Data Collection & Analysis: Systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health data to plan, implement, evaluate, and disseminate appropriate public health practices.
• Education & Training: Conduct engaging educational and training activities for healthcare workers through direct instruction and the dissemination of best healthcare practices.
• Documentation & Compliance: Read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, technical procedures, and contracts; write comprehensive reports and correspondence; and respond professionally to sensitive inquiries or complaints.

About the Role As part of the facility’s interdisciplinary approach to resident and employee safety, the Infection Control & Prevention Nurse will develop and implement infection control procedures and practices. In this essential role, you will lead activities aimed at preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), ensuring that infection sources are isolated to limit the spread of infectious organisms while promoting a safe, secure environment for all.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education & Experience: 5 years of relevant clinical experience for non-nurse applicants; Registered Nurses should have a broad level of experience, including critical care, emergency medicine, and medical/surgical nursing.
• Licensure & Certification: Current professional nursing license in the State of Maine; Certification in Infection Control (CIC) can be obtained upon hire.
• Core Skills & Traits: Highly energetic, adaptable, creative, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong time management, extensive presentation experience, and a working knowledge of nursing practice and theory.
• Technical Proficiency: Display strong proficiency in computer and software skills to track data and generate reports.
