Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking an Environmental Services Worker to ensure infection control through sanitation across hospital and campus sites. Responsibilities include cleaning patient rooms, public areas, and isolation rooms, handling waste, and delivering linens. Preferred: High School Diploma or GED and 1 year hospital housekeeping experience. PPE use required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of medical infectious waste and soiled linen.
• Ability to clean and disinfect areas with blood, bodily fluids, and pathogens.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide housekeeping in patient rooms, occupied or unoccupied, and hospital areas; may involve exposure to infectious materials.
• Clean public areas: vacuuming, baseboards, vents, fans, elevators.
• Disinfect isolation rooms (TB, C-Diff, COVID-19) and bathrooms; manage waste and spot cleaning.
• Exchange full sharp boxes for empties; deliver clean linen exchange carts to storage areas.
