Job summary

Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (CAC) is hiring an Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistant in Knoxville, TN. This full-time role supports the teacher to provide a safe, caring learning environment for young children, planning developmentally appropriate activities and partnering with families.

You will help implement activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth, accompany families, and follow agency policies.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Child and Family Studies or Infant/Toddler CDA.
  • Experience providing professional childcare services to infants/toddlers.
  • Physical ability to supervise a group of 4-8 infants/toddlers.
  • Verifiable work history.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Criminal background checks (fingerprint, vulnerable person's registry, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assists with and maintains a safe learning environment using appropriate classroom organization, schedules, and routines; provides health and nutrition services for infants and toddlers.
  • Assists in implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities for young children based on individual needs to foster growth.
  • Assists in providing parent involvement services per the Parent Involvement/Education Plan and operating policies.
  • Provides transportation services for children and parents per the Transportation Plan and policies.
  • Assists in providing social services per the Family Services Plan and policies.
  • Demonstrates professional behaviors and completes assignments from supervisor or Head Start Director.

Full-time - 37.5 hours per week

The Infant/Toddler Teacher Assistant supports the Teacher in providing a safe and caring learning environment for young children. This role involves assisting the teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that support children’s physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth, while meeting the individual needs of all learners. Responsibilities also include partnering with families, supporting strong attendance and parent involvement, and collaborating with Head Start team members to ensure high-quality program services and compliance with agency policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do
  • Assists with and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment using appropriate classroom organization, schedules, and routines and effective classroom and child management techniques; provides health and nutrition services for infants and toddlers.
  • Assists in implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities for young children based on individual needs in order to advance physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth and development.
  • Assists in the provision of parent involvement services consistent with the Parent Involvement/Education Plan and operating policies and procedures.
  • Provides transportation services for children and parents consistent with the Transportation Plan and operating policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the provision of social services consistent with the Family Services Plan and operating policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates professional behaviors and work habits which comply with agency personnel policies and procedures, and completes special assignments from immediate supervisor or the Head Start Director.
