Job summary

Acquire4Hire is seeking a Teacher to develop a cohesive teaching team and coordinate curriculum within a Connecticut early childhood program.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in ECE or related field with CT ELDS experience, 2+ years of childcare, and strong communication and leadership skills. You will conduct DOTS/ASQ assessments, liaise with families, supervise aides, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 12 ECE credits.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional childcare experience.
  • Proficiency in CT ELD Standards (ELDS) and DOTS.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, children and parents and foster a positive team environment.
  • CPR, First Aid and medication administration certification required.
  • Background check and health screening clearance.

Job description

The Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and CT's Early Learning Development Standards.
  • Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age‑appropriate activities to actively engage and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth children 8 weeks-15 months old.
  • Complete developmental assessments on each child throughout the year using the CT Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (DOTS) and the Ages & Stages questionnaires (ASQ).
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Maintain Parent Board and post accurate, timely learning plans and notices.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Knowledgeable of all center procedures (i.e. emergency, reporting to DCF, incidents, discipline, etc.).
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Actively participate in CCDC activities, staff meetings, Parent meetings, planning sessions, workshops, open houses, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, professional, working relationship with families and other staff.
  • Be prompt and consistent in attendance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in ECE or any field with 12 defined foundational ECE credits required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience.
  • Proficient in planning/assessing using the CT Early Learning Standards (ELDS) and DOTS (Documentation and Observation for Teaching System).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a positive team environment, which includes a willingness to work in other classrooms.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Infant/child CPR, First Aid, and medication administrations certification.
