Job summary

UNC Health Care System in North Carolina is seeking a Human Milk and Formula Technician to prepare infant feedings in the Children's Hospital. The role involves translating feeding orders from EPIC into recipes, fortifying milk and formula, documenting in EPIC, and delivering feeds to units within the hospital.

You will collaborate with Pediatric Dietitians, Nursing, Lactation Services, Genetics Services, and NICU teams to ensure safe, accurate feeding orders and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nutrition or related field required or equivalent.
• No prior experience required with Associate's degree in Nutrition or related field.
• If Associate's degree in an unrelated field, two years of nutrition, food service, or quality-safety experience.
• With a high school diploma, four years of nutrition, food services, or quality-safety experience.

Responsibilities

• Translates feeding orders in EPIC into established recipes.
• Uses mathematical calculations to adjust ordered recipe volumes and grams or mLs of fortification ingredients.
• Fortifies infant formula and human milk with precision using sanitation and established procedures.
• Documents human milk type, milk received, feeding preparation, human milk dispensed/discarded, and formula preparation in the clinical flowsheet in EPIC.
• Dispenses human milk and formula following barcode scanning procedures.
