Qualifications

Infant Montessori Teacher

About the Role

Brazos Learning Montessori School in Richwood, Texas is seeking an experienced, dependable, and nurturing Infant Teacher to join our early childhood education team.

Our Infant Teachers play an important role in creating a peaceful, consistent, and responsive environment for children 6 weeks to 17 months of age, during one of the most formative stages of a child's development. We are looking for an early childhood professional who understands that working with infants and young toddlers requires much more than providing loving care—it requires attentiveness, patience, observation, consistency, professionalism, and a strong understanding of early childhood development.

The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, values being part of a team, is receptive to guidance and professional development, and can be counted on to show up each day ready to support the children, families, and fellow teachers in their classroom.

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, responsive, and nurturing care to infants while maintaining a safe and peaceful classroom environment.
• Support each child's individual developmental needs, including physical, social-emotional, cognitive, language, and sensory development.
• Prepare and present developmentally appropriate Montessori and Montessori-inspired activities based on each child's abilities and readiness.
• Observe children carefully and document developmental progress, classroom activities, routines, and other required information accurately and consistently.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times and follow all required child-to-teacher ratios.
• Communicate professionally, respectfully, and consistently with parents and guardians regarding their child's routines, development, progress, and classroom experiences.
• Follow individual feeding, sleeping, diapering, and care routines while respecting the needs and developmental rhythm of each infant.
• Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and intentionally prepared classroom environment.
• Follow all health, safety, sanitation, licensing, and school procedures.
• Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, support staff, and school administration.
• Attend required staff meetings, professional development, training, and school events as assigned.
• Complete required licensing documentation, annual training, certifications, and assigned professional development by established deadlines.
• Receive and appropriately implement feedback, coaching, classroom observations, and guidance from school leadership.
• Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, appropriate workplace boundaries, and respectful communication at all times.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:

• Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable professional experience working in a licensed childcare center, preschool, Montessori school, or early childhood education setting.
• Experience working directly with infants and/or young toddlers is strongly preferred.
• Must meet all Texas Child Care Regulation background check and employment eligibility requirements.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain required certification within the school's required timeframe.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, early childhood education coursework, Montessori education, or other relevant early childhood training is preferred.
• Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and infant development OR a genuine willingness to learn and consistently implement Montessori principles and practices.
• Must be able to complete all state-required and school-required professional development and annual training.

Physical Requirements

Working in an infant classroom is active and hands-on. Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical responsibilities of the position, including:

• Frequently sitting and working on the floor with children.
• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and transitioning between floor and standing positions throughout the day.
• Safely lifting and carrying infants and classroom materials as required.
• Assisting with feeding, diapering, cleaning, sanitizing, and other routine caregiving responsibilities.
• Actively supervising children indoors and outdoors.
