Job summary

JCC Chicago in Evanston, IL is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant Teacher for the Evanston/Beth Emet location for the 2026-2027 school year, working with infants. Join a team of educators and specialists who support the whole child through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that embraces Jewish life and complements home learning.

The Assistant Teacher helps ensure safety, supports emotional and cognitive growth, and maintains strong communication with families and directors.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in preschool, kindergarten, or licensed childcare settings serving children birth through age six preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and welfare of all children, supervising by sight and sound.
• Work with the teaching team to implement the JCC's integrated secular and Jewish curriculum.
• Provide and maintain an atmosphere conducive to emotional and cognitive growth.
• Establish and maintain strong communication with directors, staff, and families.
• Welcome families and provide information regarding their child's progress.
• Foster a collaborative, team-focused environment throughout the classroom and agency.
• Participate in at least 15 hours of staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development annually.
• Help maintain DCFS and Illinois state standards.
