Job summary

UB Child Care Center on the university campus is seeking an Assistant Infant Teacher who is caring, dependable, and enthusiastic. You will support the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing environment where infants can explore and learn. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week with daytime shifts and no evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA preferred.
  • Some professional experience working in an infant classroom is required.
  • Patient, nurturing, dependable, and able to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, loving, and developmentally appropriate classroom for infants.
  • Build positive, responsive relationships with infants and their families.
  • Support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities and interactions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary classroom.
  • Follow all OCFS regulations, health and safety policies, and center procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure high-quality care throughout the day.

Responsibilities

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, sit on the floor, and rise from the floor without adult assistance.

Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday
  • 40 hours per week
  • Must be available to work an 8-hour shift between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • No evenings or weekends
Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting pay: $16.25–$17.50 per hour, based on experience.
