Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking an Industrial Water Process Engineer for its Oil & Gas team in Walnut Creek, CA. You will work with engineers, project managers, and client service managers on water, wastewater, and water reuse infrastructure across the United States, applying best practices to advance client solutions.

The role involves leading process evaluations, data analyses, and the development of optimization strategies, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to technical proposals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, chemical, mechanical, or biological engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineer licensure required.
  • Typically 5+ years of related process engineering experience.
  • SMS framework certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of process models and perform advanced data analysis.
  • Lead chemical/physical/biological evaluations, lifecycle cost analyses, and process optimizations.
  • Oversee and guide junior staff in process design and definition, including mass and energy balances.
  • Participate in technical innovation projects and new technologies implementations.
  • Contribute to proposals and client content with process-related content.

Job description

Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for an Industrial Water Process Engineer to join our Oil & Gas team. In this role, you will work closely with and be mentored by other engineers, project managers, and client service managers to support the environmental engineering needs for large water, wastewater, and water reuse infrastructure for development of oil & gas industrial water projects across the United States. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growth-oriented professional consulting company. The successful candidate will support the advancement of the firm’s prominence through application of the best technical, project management and client services practices.

The Industrial Water Process Engineer is responsible for solving moderately complex problems. This position involves critical decision making, based on limited guidelines and supervision, and exercising judgement and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of process modelsandperform advanced data analysis.
  • Lead chemical/physical/biologicalprocess evaluations,alternativesanalyses, lifecycle cost analyses, andimplementationof processoptimizations .
  • Lead troubleshooting effortsof existing facilities, develop solutions forprocessissues.
  • Be responsible fortheadheringtoQualityManagement Plan (QMP), decision, interim work, and deliverables for projects.
  • Oversee and guide junior staff in process design and definition, including mass and energy balances, process system requirements, equipment specifications, and preliminary design concepts.
  • Participate intechnical innovation projects,including theimplementation ofnew technologiesand processes.
  • Leadthe execution ofexperiments,evaluate technologies for implementation.
  • Lead physical/chemical/biologicaltesting and analysisanddata reporting.
  • Understand and deliver BC’s process relateddifferentiatingsolutions.
  • Engage on pursuits, providing process related technical content for proposals and presentations.
  • As required, engage inprocess relatedrisk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to regional conference presentations and/or publications, promoting BC’s brand.
  • Support the development and creation of continuing education and training, including on the latest technical advancements.
  • Actively mentor junior staff on development priorities and projects.
  • Support subject matter experts and practice leaders in ensuring BC Standards areaccurate, up to date and complete.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute variousadditionalassignments based on evolving needs.
  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient inprocess modeling and data analysis skills, strongtroubleshootingand problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform physical, chemical, and biological process performance evaluationswith high-level oversight.
  • Skilled at effectively conveyingtechnical information to clients and internal stakeholders.
Experience
  • Typically,a minimum of5yearsrelated work experienceinprocessengineering or related field.
  • Typically, certified in the SMS Framework andprogressingthrough the SMS competencies.
Education
  • A bachelor's degree inenvironmental, civil,chemical,mechanical, orbiologicalengineeringde gree or equivalent experience isrequired.
  • Licensure as a professional engineer is required.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of industrial water experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a highly responsive candidate, capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to coordinate the work of multiple team members including subconsultants.
  • Candidate should be a self-starter, results-orientedand able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Highly proficient using the Microsoft Office Suite.
Salary Range:

Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $95,000 - $129,000
Location B: $104,000 - $142,000
Location C: $114,000 - $155,000
