Danone USA is seeking an experienced Utilities Manager to lead the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of critical utility infrastructure at its West Jordan, Utah plant. You will oversee ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, compressed air, electrical distribution, water treatment, HVAC, and facility infrastructure while guiding a team of eight mechanics.

You will drive reliability, safety, and performance, partnering with operations and engineering to reduce downtime and support

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a utility-focused role with ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, and air compressors.
• 3+ years of manufacturing leadership with technical aptitude.
• Experience supervising maintenance staff and using a CMMS (MVP, SAP, Maximo).

Lead Utilities Operations for one of our Largest Manufacturing Facilities

At Danone USA manufacturing excellence starts with reliable utility systems. We're looking for an experienced Industrial Utilities and Refrigeration Manager, internally called Utilities Manager to lead the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the critical infrastructure that powers our extra-large manufacturing plant in West Jordan, Utah.

As the Utilities Manager, reporting into the site Maintenance Director, you'll oversee ammonia refrigeration, steam boilers, compressed air systems, electrical distribution, water treatment, cooling towers, HVAC, and facility infrastructure while leading a team of skilled mechanics. You'll play a key role in improving asset reliability, reducing downtime, and developing a proactive maintenance culture.

What You'll Do

• Oversee ammonia refrigeration, boiler operations, electrical distribution, compressed air, HVAC, water treatment and facility infrastructure for an extra-large, 24/7 food manufacturing facility
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of eight skilled mechanics supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation while building technical capability, accountability, and a proactive maintenance culture.
• Lead daily operations and maintenance of plant utility systems
• Drive reliability improvements through preventive and predictive maintenance programsOwn key maintenance systems including Breakdown Elimination, Defect Handling, and Planning & Scheduling
• Analyze equipment performance, identify losses, and implement sustainable solutions
• Support capital projects, equipment startups, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Partner with operations, engineering, and maintenance leadership to improve safety, quality, and equipment performance
• Ensure environmental systems operate within permit requirements and company standards
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk and hear.
• Ability to bend & stoop at waist level as well as bend & twist neck and head.
• The employee must regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting 10lbs up to 50lbs and occasional team lifting above 50lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports and results.
• The employee is frequently standing on a concrete surface for 8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts.
• Occasionally may need to climb stairs, step ladders, stool.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts.

About You

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
• 5+ years’ of progressive work experience in a utility focused role responsible for ammonia refrigeration, steam boiler, and air compressor operations and maintenance required
• 3+ years’ manufacturing experience with demonstrated technical aptitude and leadership required
• Experience working with a CMMS system like MVP, SAP, Maximo required
• Experienced in supervising support personnel required
• RETA 1&2 certification a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Fundamental knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling systems
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience troubleshooting electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work in a fluid environment
• Ability to identify problems, draw conclusions, and make recommended solutions
• Ability to be self-directed with little supervision
• Understand TPM and continuous improvement methods
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Working knowledge of screw compressors, electrical troubleshooting all common types of ammonia central systems, & control/alarm systems, water tube and fire tube boilers, and compressed air systems
• Ability to adjust schedule to support 24/7 Manufacturing Operation; may include working graveyard shift and/or weekends as needed. Availability to be on call nights and/or weekends as required
