Industrial Telecommunications Engineer
KBR ISA (Integrated Solutions Americas) delivers integrated, end-to-end engineering, procurement, and construction management services to the refining, LNG, midstream, chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, power, and industrial infrastructure sectors. Our focus spans proprietary technology, consulting, and energy transition to complete delivery of major capital projects and programs. KBR is looking for an Industrial Telecommunications Engineer to assist a subject matter expert (SME) with the definition of the telecommunications and IT scope, from early conceptual through detail design, for medium, large and world-scale oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical projects.
Functional Job Responsibilities
- Assist with the definition of the telecommunications and IT scope, from early conceptual through detail design, for medium, large and world-scale oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical projects.
- Direct the efforts of equipment suppliers and third-party design engineering and construction contractors
- Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements.
- Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and assist other engineers and/or designers to ensure an effective, quality product.
- Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and standards.
- Provide technical guidance to the design team.
- Help engineer multi-vendor solutions that are fault resilient with integrations that span vendor platforms.
- Also learn and execute all other control systems and instrumentation project activities as required, while building particular telecoms expertise.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 4 years related work experience
- Total Minimum 3 years of experience in industry
- Experience and working knowledge related to the design, configuration, installation, and testing of some of the following systems: closed circuit television (CCTV), personnel access control, perimeter intrusion detection, public address/general alarm (PA/GA), wired and wireless network systems, telephony, digital radio, marine, or microwave systems.
- Knowledge of, or eagerness to learn, cyber security implementation methods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present, design, plan, and to build relationships with customers and co-workers.
- Industry experience in oil and gas, refining and/or petrochemical facilities
- Experience managing suppliers
- Knowledge of, or interest in Instrument calculation computer applications.
- Experience working with other disciplines and understanding their interface requirements.
- Knowledge of NEC, IEC, ISA, & IEEE standards, methods and practices.
Preferred Education & Skills
- PE or P.Eng. registration
- Experience in a computer aided drawing package
- Construction support experience
