Job summary

Konecranes is seeking an Industrial Technician to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes at customer locations. The role involves climbing, lifting up to 100 lbs., and occasional travel, with a focus on safety and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 1 year of electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair experience, and a willingness to travel for customer site work. Associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate degree in Industrial Electric and/or Mechanical Technology preferred or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.
  • Minimum one year of electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair experience; crane experience is a plus but not required.
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record with a valid driver’s license; willing to work off the ground; able to travel and work out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair electric overhead cranes and hoists at customer locations.
  • Provide on-call service in rotation, including after-hours support.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic issues on-site.
  • Perform post-repair audits to verify safety features are functional.
  • Document findings and recommend corrective actions with customer signatures.
  • Consult with customers on repair and safety issues, advising on material handling improvements.
  • Produce electronic documentation using company tools and obtain customer signatures.
  • Stay updated on OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and HMI safety standards.
  • Complete service reports and other required documents promptly.
  • Communicate with the Field Operations Manager and Service Coordinator following established practices.
  • Maintain company vehicles and equipment in good working order.
  • Operate tools and equipment, reporting deficiencies to supervision.
  • Follow safety rules and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic issues on-site.

  • Perform post-repair audits to ensure safety features are functional.

  • Document findings and recommend corrective actions, including safety notifications to customers.

  • Consult with customers on repair and safety issues, offering recommendations for material handling improvement.

  • Produce electronic documentation using company tools, obtaining customer signatures.

  • Stay updated on industry codes and regulations (OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI).

  • Complete service reports and other required documents accurately and promptly.

  • Communicate with the Field Operations Manager and Service Coordinator following established practices.

  • Maintain company-issued equipment, vehicles, and assets in proper working order.

  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles, reporting deficiencies to the supervisor.

  • Follow established safety rules and procedures, including customer guidelines.

  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications


  • Education: High School Diploma required. Associate degree in Industrial Electric and/or Mechanical Technology or related field preferred or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.

  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience involving electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair. Some electronic experience but not necessary. Prior experience with cranes is a benefit, but not required.

  • Other Requirements: Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver's license. Must be willing to work off the ground. Can work varied overtime, as needed by customer; be available for "on call" as part of the service office rotation; and be able to travel and work out of town, on occasion.

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently lift to 25 lbs.; lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis; lift to 75 lbs. although not on a daily basis; lift 100 lbs. on a rare basis. This position requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, and overhead reaching; occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling. This position will be inside approximately 90% of the time and outside approximately 10% of the time; frequently exposed to heat, cold, noise and heights.


Additional Information


  • Salary: $22 - $48 an hour; Pay is determined based on skills, geographic location, internal equity, market/data analysis, number of years of prior relevant experience, degrees and/or certifications, technical assessment score, etc.

  • Company Vehicle: Our Service Technicians get a work truck and a gas card to be used for business purposes. Candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

  • Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year.
