Job description

Industrial Systems Technology Instructor

Are you passionate about hands‑on technical work and eager to shape the next generation of manufacturing professionals? We are looking for a dynamic instructor to join our team and bring energy, experience, and expertise into the classroom and lab. This role will involve teaching in state‑of‑the‑art labs, including a one‑of‑a‑kind IT/OT lab and an industrial 3D printing lab.

The Industrial Systems Technology program prepares students with multi‑craft technical skills to safely service, maintain, repair, and install electrical and mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, PLCs and automation controls. Emphasis is placed on troubleshooting and practical application.

Responsibilities
  • Mastery of Subject Matter: demonstrate thorough, up‑to‑date knowledge of the field; interpret and evaluate theories; connect subject matter with related fields; demonstrate competency in laboratory and clinical areas.
  • Teaching Performance: teach all courses according to the published curriculum; prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and approved course outlines; plan, organize, and facilitate learning strategies; modify instructional methods to improve student retention; recommend curriculum improvements; maintain currency with new instructional techniques and technologies; periodically evaluate and develop new courses; maintain conducive classroom environments.
  • Mastery of Instructional Technology: use current technologies to enhance teaching; develop and maintain an electronic learning site through Canvas; ensure compliance with FTCC’s Online Standards Handbook; employ electronic resources; provide online study guides.
  • Evaluation of Student Learning: organize courses to acquaint students with requirements and learning outcomes; maintain accurate records; use appropriate evaluation tools; evaluate performance fairly and return work promptly; demonstrate sensitivity to student needs.
  • Support of College Policies and Procedures: maintain confidentiality per FERPA; stay current through professional organizations; submit a Personal and Professional Development Plan; substitute for other instructors; conduct inspections of classrooms, labs and offices; engage in program review and strategic planning; adhere to licensure and certification requirements; maintain historical files; operate with integrity.
  • Participation in College, Division, and Program Activities: serve as faculty advisor; establish office hours; maintain contact with advisees; attend faculty and college meetings; uphold professionalism in dress and behavior; demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Contribution to the Growth and Enhancement of College Mission and Programs: sponsor student organizations; foster collegial relations; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Industrial Systems Technology or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
  • Extensive experience, well documented, may be considered in lieu of the degree.

Preferred Requirements

  • Teaching experience at a community college or four‑year college.
  • Online teaching experience.
