Job summary

Tri-State Overhead Crane is seeking a skilled Service Technician in the Cedar Rapids area. You will run electrical and mechanical diagnostics and deliver required repairs onsite at customer locations, troubleshooting overhead cranes, crane controls, hoists and drives while performing preventive maintenance and quality inspections.

The role requires 3–5 years of industrial electrical experience; crane experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years as a technician or mechanic with electrical experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience on overhead cranes is a plus.
  • Ability to read work instructions, manuals, schematics, and fabrication drawings.

Responsibilities

Job description

Tri-State Overhead Crane continues to grow our customer base and expand, and we are on the lookout for a strong service technician to be part of our team in the Cedar Rapids area! We are headquartered in St. Louis with service locations primarily in the Midwest, but customers covering coast to coast. We are different in that we design, build/fabricate, install, and inspect/service/repair overhead cranes, so can cover them through a full life cycle.

As a Service Technician you will run electrical and mechanical diagnostics and deliver required repairs onsite at customer locations. Key responsibilities are going to be troubleshooting and repairing overhead cranes, crane controls, hoists and drives; performing scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment; and comprehensive quality inspections of overhead industrial cranes and hoists. You'll need to be able to read and understand work instructions, manuals, schematics, and fabrication drawings.

A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience as a technician or mechanic with electrical experience in an industrial environment working on equipment is going to have you on the right path. If you have experience working on overhead cranes, that's even better and will allow you to jump right in. The role will work on its on at times and at other times connect with our other techs on assignments. We provide a work vehicle, company credit card and company phone to help you get things done.

It is a physical job, so a few expectations. There will be prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks. You will need to frequently walk, climb, kneel, bend, reach overhead, push, pull, and use a ladder or lift. You might have to be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time. There will be plenty of times you will be exposed to heat, cold, noise and heights. And of course, you must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
