Job description

Industrial Service Technicians are responsible for performing repair and maintenance on containers and/or the vehicle fleet. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform grinding, cutting, welding and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and other equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Perform related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, and notching of metal and plastic parts.
  • Perform on‑site repairs at customer locations including hydraulic and electrical work.
  • Perform detail inspections and preventative maintenance on compactors, containers, and equipment.
  • Cut, weld, and grind steel components using a plasma cutter, torch, and Mig and Arc welding equipment.
  • Bend steel components using a break and shear.
  • Fabricate steel components on compactors and containers.
  • Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components and be able to run electrical conduit/wire according to code.
  • Complete welding and painting at customer location.
  • Complete required safety checks on containers, compactors, and trouble‑shoot equipment both electrical and hydraulic.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing the computer system.
  • Ensure all safety devices are in good working order.
  • Operate a CDL vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Travel to customer sites for repairs and follow‑up.
  • Work with management on scheduling work.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co‑workers, and management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
  • May assist in other projects or areas of the shop as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
  • Basic electrical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of small shop tools.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Proficient in the use and interpretation of installation diagrams and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Familiar with the use of schematics, wiring diagrams, and related troubleshooting guides pertaining to commercial hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Additional Working Conditions / Aspects
  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain one prior to hire.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Must be available for 24‑hour emergency calls.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre‑employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
