Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a security professional to develop and administer programs for classified materials and equipment. You will implement federal regulations, prepare manuals, and establish access controls, while conducting audits and training staff.

Responsibilities include investigations, badge production, monitoring cameras, and maintaining site security records. A Bachelor's degree with relevant experience is required; security clearance eligibility is a plus.

The Role

Develops, and administers security programs and procedures for classified or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment. Studies and implements federal security regulations that apply to company operations. Obtains rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations from government agencies. Prepares manuals outlining regulations, and establishes procedures for handling, storing, and keeping records, and for granting personnel and visitors access to restricted records and materials. Conducts security education classes and security audits. Investigates security violations and prepares reports specifying preventive action to be taken. Produce employee and guest badges, grant personnel and visitors access to site facilities. Monitor security cameras and review footage, perform routine security audits, investigate security violations and establish preventive measures.

Must Have

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 years of relevant professional experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
Nice to Have

Active or ability to obtain a security clearance.
