Job summary

Magnum Ice Cream Company in Sikeston, MO is seeking an experienced Engineer to manage the central refrigeration system, provide technical process support across the plant, and coordinate maintenance functions. You will communicate across all levels and ensure safe, efficient operation of utilities, with flexible hours including nights and weekends.

The role requires formal engineering training and 3+ years of related experience, with preference for ammonia refrigeration expertise and HAZWOPER

Qualifications

• Formal training in engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
• Ability to interpret P&ID, electrical schematics and equipment manuals as necessary.
• Ability to become HAZWOPER certified.
• Ability to lead teams comprised of all personnel levels.
• Ability to navigate web-based programs such as Buildapp, Megamation, DFOS, SPC.
• Ability to apply rigorous Cost Deployment and Zero Loss concepts to eliminate losses using UMS.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all equipment in the Engineering Department, including ammonia systems, boilers, pumps, air compressors, condensers, and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC and electrical problems and modify programs as needed.
• Support plant safety programs by completing required PSM forms.
• Develop and follow SOPs, MOC, PHA and JSA processes.
• Provide engineering support to Sikeston facility and coordinate weekend maintenance.

The role

This position works independently to manage, operate and ensure timely effective coverage of the central Refrigeration system. The position also provides technical process support throughout the factory including assists the Mix Room, production floor and utility tasks. The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel is significant within this position.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Operate and maintain all equipment associated with the Engineering Department including the ammonia engine room, boilers, pumps, air compressors, condensers, electrical systems, and electrical distribution centers.
• Advanced Electrical and Mechanical aspects.
• Troubleshoot PLC and electrical problems, making program changes as needed.
• Troubleshoot Process Instrumentation equipment.
• Complete and file all required Plant Safety Management (PSM) forms.
• Develop and follow established Hot Work permits, Pipe Break permits, Working at Heights permits, and PSM records as required(JSA, Confined Space).
• Develop and follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), piping and instrumentation diagrams.
• Perform pre-start up safety reviews.
• Develop and follow established Management of Change (MOC).
• Develop and follow established Process Hazardous Analysis (PHA).
• Identify opportunities for productivity improvements, Focus Improvement (FI).
• Develop and follow established Automated Maintenance Management Systems (AMMS).
• Develop, Coach, Train and follow established Preventative Maintenance (PM).
• Perform LOTO on equipment.
• Provide general engineering support at the Sikeston location.
• Must be open to flexible working hours which includes days, night, weekends, and Holidays.
• Ability to comply with all government agency regulations.
• Help coordinate weekend maintenance functions including manufacturing and Facility Utilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

We’re Looking For Someone Who

• Formal training in engineering or related discipline preferred
• Ammonia refrigeration experience is preferred.
• Pass skill evaluation for this position.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
• Ability to interpret Process & Instrumentation drawings (P&ID), electrical schematics and equipment manuals as necessary to perform assigned duties.
• Ability to become HAZWOPER certified.
• Ability to work with and lead teams comprised of all personnel levels.
• Ability to navigate and use web-based programs such as Buildapp, Megamation, DFOS, SPC, etc.
• Ability to apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses utilizing UMS.

Working environment

• Work is performed on the manufacturing floor. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE (PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT) includes safety glasses, hearing protection, bump caps and sanitary, safety toed, electrical rated footwear and arc flash uniforms.
• In addition, there will be exposure to allergens such as dairy, eggs, tree nuts, coconut, peanuts, wheat (gluten), soybean and cinnamon. There will also be exposure to chemicals and gasses such as ammonia.
