Job summary

Johnson Controls' Silent-Aire division in Gilbert, AZ seeks an experienced industrial painter to tend and operate coating equipment and apply protective finishes on sheet metal and assemblies.

You will read blueprints, mix paints, and ensure surfaces are properly prepared while maintaining safety and quality in a busy manufacturing setting. Overtime may be required, and the job involves lifting up to 35 lbs and standing for long periods.

Qualifications

• Completion of college/vocational or technical training in a related field is an asset.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working as an industrial painter in a manufacturing setting is an asset.
• Previous experience painting sheet metal.
• Experience using a spray gun.
• WHMIS Certification.
• Ability to work independently.
• Able to communicate both verbally and in writing, with ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Must lift up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able to distinguish colours.

Responsibilities

• Tend and operate equipment used to spray or coat products and apply protective or decorative coats.
• Prepare and apply stencils, decals, and other decorative items on the finished product.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Inspect surfaces for contamination prior to application of paint.
• Apply high performance protective coatings to metal surfaces, fabricated parts, assemblies, and structures.
• Knowledge of chemical application techniques.
• Paint using spray, brush, and roll.
• Select and mix the appropriate paint.
• Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance when necessary.
• Follow safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
• Other duties as required.
