Job summary

Sulzer Pumps Solutions Inc. in the United States seeks a Painter to prepare finished pumps for customers in our production environment. You will work with production to move materials, operate the paint line, and apply coatings per specifications.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of industrial painting experience, can read drawings and data sheets, and can pass a background check and drug screen. You must wear a respirator and lift up to 50 lbs, following ISO 9001 quality procedures and safety

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of industrial or automotive painting experience.
  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass 7-year criminal history background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Move materials through the department to meet on-time delivery targets.
  • Operate overhead and manual equipment to load/unload items onto the paint line (>50 lbs).
  • Mix colors and textures using pre-coating agents per specifications.
  • Follow painting and finishing techniques as specified.
  • Apply paint and finishes per sales orders and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret drawings, technical specs, and material data sheets.
  • Maintain accurate records as required.
  • Perform quality inspections per quality plans and work instructions.
  • Follow ISO 9001 quality procedures and safety rules.

About the role

The Painter is responsible for working with production to prepare finished pumps for the customer.

Responsibilities
  • Manage material movement through the department which aligns with the most immediate needs of internal customers to meet On-Time-Delivery (OTD) performance metrics.
  • Operate overhead and manual floor lifting equipment to maneuver, load, and unload items onto and off of the paint line that exceed 50lbs.
  • Utilize pre-coating agents, mix and match colors and textures according to specifications, and fill or level materials as required.
  • Follow compound specifications for mixing of paints and painting techniques.
  • Apply paint and any additional finishes according to sales order and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret drawings, technical specifications and material data sheets.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required.
  • Perform quality inspections as described in quality plans and work instructions.
  • Follow quality procedures according to ISO 9001.
  • Commitment to following all work instructions, policies, and posted signs or instructions regarding safety, including but not limited to, proper use of required PPE at all times.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs (excess of 50 lbs, use of slings, hoist or cranes required)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 12hrs)
  • Must be able to don required PPE for all operations included in the scope of this job including painting (some protective equipment may present problems for persons with claustrophobia or asthma)
