Job summary

Staffmark in Abilene, TX is seeking an Industrial Painter to join our team. You will prepare metal surfaces for painting, mix paints, and operate spray equipment to apply coatings that meet precise specifications.

The job requires 2+ years of industrial painting experience and the ability to read work orders and follow detailed instructions. You’ll work with a range of primers and coatings, maintaining safety practices and clean, organized work areas.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industrial, manufacturing, automotive, or commercial painting experience preferred.
  • Experience using airless, conventional, or HVLP spray equipment.
  • Knowledge of surface preparation, paint mixing, and coating application techniques.
  • Ability to read work instructions and follow detailed specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
  • Comfortable standing, bending, reaching, and lifting materials throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to work overtime or flexible schedules based on production demands.

Responsibilities

  • Mix paints, coatings, and finishes according to manufacturer specifications and job requirements.
  • Operate spray guns, pressure pots, and other painting equipment to apply coatings evenly and efficiently.
  • Inspect surfaces and completed work to ensure proper coverage, thickness, and finish quality.
  • Read and follow work orders, blueprints, and production schedules to meet customer and project specifications.
  • Maintain paint systems, booths, hoses, and related equipment in safe working condition.
  • Identify and correct painting defects such as runs, drips, uneven coverage, or contamination.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area while following 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of paints, solvents, respirators, and PPE.
