Job summary

The J.R. Simplot Company is seeking a Maintenance Technician to uphold the mechanical operation of plant equipment across Process, Packaging, Logistics, and related areas at the GF Grand Forks facility.

You will work under supervision to install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment while following safety practices and SOPs. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment sanitation, daily logs, and coordination with supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to comprehend and retain written procedures.
• Knowledge of general and job-specific safety practices.
• Ability to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals.
• Ability to work in extreme conditions (hot, cold, humid, slippery).
• Ability to identify hazards and report them appropriately.
• Acceptable safety record.
• Ability to read and understandMechanical drawings, Isometric drawings, Exploded-view drawings.
• Understanding and use of Hand tools & Power tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.
• Food Safety is everyone’s responsibility.
• Attend and participate in all training activities for the position.
• Ensures sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the facility.
• Ensures compliance with Company policies, SOPs, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Must be a team player and help meet operational goals.
• Conducts oneself professionally and maintains appearance standards.
• Performs duties assigned by Manager.
• Under supervision installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains plant equipment.
• Responds to mechanical line calls and completes work orders.
• Ensures spare parts are available and orders parts as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance on all plant equipment.
• Maintains clean, organized work area and equipment.
• Fills out daily log accurately.
• Communicates with Supervisors and team members regarding equipment conditions.
• Reads training materials and maintenance manuals; completes paperwork timely.
• Maximizes downtime to optimize work time.
• Maintains sanitary work area to comply with good manufacturing practices.
