Waste Management is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician for a swing shift. You will perform preventive maintenance on balers, conveyors, motors, and related equipment to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in plant maintenance.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and hydraulic knowledge required.
  • Conveyor and baler repair experience preferred.
  • Welding fabrication is a plus; diesel truck and trailer repair bonus; forklift experience encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose/repair major equipment components.
  • Maintain the daily equipment inspection backlog and adjust procedures to production schedules.
  • Inspect third-party repairs and recommend improvements for efficiency and quality.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform repairs with limited supervision.
  • Keep a clean, safe work area compliant with OSHA standards and safety rules.

  • Split Shift:8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Occasional Saturdays

Each day, you’ll play a key role in keeping our plant running at its best, maintaining everything from balers and conveyor belts to gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. As a Plant Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll jump into action when systems fail, using your skills to quickly identify and fix issues, ensuring everything is back up and running safely and efficiently. You’ll work with cutting-edge equipment and tackle challenges that require both expertise and determination. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, you’ll help drive the success of our operations, ensuring the plant runs smoothly and safely at all times.

Here’s more of what you’ll do:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections (PM) and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment and components, including balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electro-magnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front-end loaders, and building equipment.
  • Maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog.
  • Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and inform the Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager if additional work is needed or cannot be completed within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance production, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Multitask and manage multiple priorities with efficiency.
  • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
  • Perform work with limited supervision while maintaining high standards of performance.
  • Be flexible with your work schedule, which may include nights and weekends to meet operational needs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA standards and ensure all work is completed according to safety procedures.
  • Perform repairs in line with Waste Management Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA requirements.

What do you need to be considered for the role of a Plant Maintenance Technician?

  • 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screen and physical.
  • You must have your own tools. Tool allowance considered after 90 days.
