Job summary

Leviton in Morganton, NC seeks a maintenance technician to repair, adjust, and maintain industrial production machinery in a safety‑minded, quality‑driven role. You will perform repairs, set‑ups, and preventive maintenance to keep lines running efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and at least 1 year in a manufacturing environment, with strong problem‑solving, teamwork, and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Completes process checks on specified quality forms and records.
• Assures safety guarding and cleanliness of equipment.
• Documents repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Monitors Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Observes gauges and indicators to ensure proper operation.
• Inspects equipment, products, and packaging for defects.
• Repairs, cleans, lubricates, or adjusts machinery.
• Disassembles and reassembles equipment after inspections or repairs.
• Examines parts for wear or breakage.
• Performs changes and set-ups to equipment.

About the role

Responsible for repairing, adjusting, and maintenance of industrial production and processing machinery in a safe manner and within quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Completes process checks on specified quality forms and records


• Assures all assigned equipment safety guarding is in place and all areas of the machine are clean, neat and organized


• Documents required repairs and maintenance tasks


• Monitors Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to ensure set standards are achieved or exceeded


• Observes gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure equipment is working properly


• Inspects equipment, products, materials, or packaging to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects


• Repairs, cleans, lubricates, or adjusts machinery to optimally maintain the equipment


• Disassembles, repairs or replaces malfunctioning/broken machinery or equipment components


• Reassembles equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repair


• Examines parts for defects, such as excessive wear or breakage


• Performs changeovers and set-ups to equipment as required


• Places or pours WIP components or materials into containers or fills hoppers/feeder bowls from designated Gaylords


• Cleans work areas using basic cleaning materials


• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance


• Ability to operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs


• Ability to analyze failures, machine error messages, or information obtained from operators


• Self-motivated and capable of identifying and completing tasks with minimal direction


• Ability to determine causes of operating errors and implement effective solutions


• Ability to use judgment related to identifying potential safety hazards


• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment


• Ability to communicate in verbal and written English


• Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, pushing, pulling, and feeling


• Requires eye/hand/foot coordination


• Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, associate degree in a technical field preferred. Significant experience and skills in the field may be considered in lieu of degree


• Minimum of 1 year technical experience required, in a manufacturing environment preferred
