Job summary

Armstrong World Industries seeks an Industrial Maintenance Tech for night shift in Johnstown, OH. You will provide electrical and mechanical support, perform predictive maintenance, manage equipment across the site, and lead projects to improve reliability.

Role requires 5+ years in industry, machining/fabrication experience, and troubleshooting skills with presses, hydraulics, and automation. Strong safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in an industrial environment.
  • Machining and fabrication experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with Electrical/Mechanical Presses, Hydraulics, Combustion.
  • Mechanical tool and die and automation equipment experience.
  • Proficient with conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to perform precision alignments using lasers and dial indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all OSHA safe work practices and wear PPE.
  • Support electrical/mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Install, maintain, diagnose electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain machines including Perforators, CNC Turret Presses, Press Brakes, Routers, Welders, Drill Presses, Powder Booths, Ovens.
  • Read manuals and schematics; perform preventive maintenance and weekly inspections.
  • Manage backlog of work orders and organize maintenance area.
  • Lead systems development for standard work and housekeeping.
  • Work with minimal supervision and coordinate with outside vendors as needed.

Primary Duty:

Position will provide support for all electrical/mechanical problems that might arise with equipment/facilities as well as completing predictive and preventative maintenance work in a metal fabricating shop. This position would also be responsible for machine management and maintenance across the site and would lead special projects to both equipment/facilities and systems development. Position is for night shift (9pm - 5am) and may require additional hours of overtime as product demand increases.

Skill-based pay ranges from $25 to $35per hour.

Working Responsibilities:
  • Follow all Company and OSHA safe work practices and procedures. Wear all prescribed personal protective equipment. Ensure all proper lockout/tag out procedures are followed.
  • Provide support for all electrical/mechanical and technical problemsto ensure that production disruptions and downtime are minimized.
  • Install, maintain, remove, troubleshoot, and diagnose a wide variety of electrical/mechanical equipment and components used in manufacturing process.
  • Machinery includes Perforators, CNC Turret Presses, Press Brakes, Routers, Welders, Drill Presses, Powder Booths, and Ovens
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a variety of production machinery and equipment including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and parts.
  • Installs, modifies, and relocates machinery and equipment and performs fabrication, welding, mechanical, electrical, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, or other maintenance skills.
  • Repairs and modifies buildings and plant systems as required.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of components such as rolls, shafts, bearings, drive belts, drive chains and gear boxes utilizing basic mechanic’s hand and power tools
  • Troubleshooting and repair of pumps, valves, and piping systems to include installation of copper pipes or PVC pipes.
  • Reads and interprets manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other written installation and repair instructionsIdentify and complete predictive and preventative maintenance work and weekly mechanical inspections
  • Manage backlog of work orders.
  • Organize and Maintain Maintenance Area tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required to maintain or improve plant reliability and safety.
  • Conduct daily safety risk assessments on routine and non-routine job tasks to ensure safe practices are followed.
  • Lead systems development work such as standard work, training, and housekeeping initiatives throughout the plant.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Works with outside vendors as needed when required
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • 5+ Years of experience in an industrial environment.
  • Machining and fabrication experience.
  • High level experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
    • Experience with Electrical/Mechanical Presses, Hydraulics, Combustion
    • Mechanical tool and die
    • Automation Equipment Experience
  • Demonstrated skill in working with conveyors, mechanical drive systems (gearboxes, sheaves, pulleys, belts, bearings, sprockets, and chains), pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to perform precision tasks including alignments using lasers, dial indicators, etc.
