Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a reliable Maintenance Technician I to join our team in Austin, TX. You’ll handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, with a Monday–Friday schedule and periodic overtime.

On-the-job training is provided as you contribute to safe and efficient plant operations. You’ll use tools, read blueprints, follow manuals, and perform safety checks while documenting readings and maintaining systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record.
• Experience repairing industrial equipment in production environment (6+ months).
• Ability to read blueprints/schematics.
• English maintenance literature reading ability.
• Basic computer/MS Office skills.
• Lockout/Tagout experience required.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate and repair industrial equipment, systems, and components.
• Use hand/power tools, measurement devices, and testing equipment.
• Follow blueprints, manuals, and specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems through observation and testing.
• Test boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment systems and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Perform safety checks on boilers and complete repairs as required.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Conduct daily/weekly safety checks of location/system.
• Inspect motors, belts, fluid levels; replace filters as needed.
• Lubricate moving parts and maintain components per procedures.
• Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
