Job summary

Shearer’s Foods is seeking a mechanically skilled Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for the Phoenix, Arizona facility. The role entails keeping plant systems and equipment running through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime during production.

The position supports a 2-2-3 shift schedule with day and night options; night shift includes a $3.00/hr premium. Candidates should have a craft apprenticeship and relevant manufacturing experience, including hydraulic

Qualifications

  • 3 years of manufacturing experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills, including PLC exposure.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and repair in a food manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant systems and equipment by performing preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues arising during production to minimize downtime.
  • Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect machinery and perform calibration, repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Follow safety and food safety protocols and work in a high-pressure environment.

We are seeking a mechanically skilled individual who can work on maintaining plant systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting, and repairing any issues which may arise during production, restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts. Equipment used in this food processing facility includes industrial, electromechanical, and hydraulic equipment as well as pumps and conveying systems.

The Maintenance Technician must be able to troubleshoot, install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, packaging machines.

Other duties include.
  • Inspect and examine machinery (conveyors, packers, seasoners, sensors) to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Perform maintenance tasks according to work orders (cleaning, lubrication, etc..)
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Perform good troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment break downs.
  • Has a pro-active mindset; finds solutions to different problems and complexities.
  • Can adapt and learn quickly to problems. Can operate in a high-pressure environment.
  • Perform daily maintenance and repairs needed in the production area.
  • Follows safety and food safety protocols
  • Stays on call for emergency repairs of production equipment.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience preferred
  • Successful completion and qualifying scoring on Ramsay Maintenance Skills Assessment
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience; experience with mechanical systems (e.g., gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings), product manuals (e.g., reading and applying knowledge to make repairs), troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns (pinpointing and fixing breakdowns), and reading mechanical drawings (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics)
  • Ability to work within an integrated operating enterprise
  • Ability to manage priorities and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to perform calibrations, installation and maintenance of process and analytical instrumentation.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Ability to perform mechanical work, valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, motor/gearbox replacement, lube routes
Physical Requirements
